 Mr John Vanden Heuvel

Mr John Vanden Heuvel from Nelson, British Columbia, Canada arrived on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 for a semester long visit as Visiting Faculty to the Department of Languages (DL) and College of Agricultural Sciences at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT). During this visit he will be conducting classes besides research work to nourish the English competency of the students studying in different programs as well development of DL at IUBAT. Besides, he is planning to work with the agriculture faculty on  farming practices, more particularly organic farming.

As to his association with educational activities, Mr Nelson received his education from Translators School and Pedagogical Institute in Switzerland. He was an English Teacher at Waldorf School and Migros Klub Schule in Switzerland and English Teacher at Japanese Canadian International College, British Columbia, Canada. 

Mr Heuvel is the Founder of World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms Canada (WWOOFC) and in this capacity maintained contacts with different educational institutions, government and non-government organization in different countries through his life. He started his profession in financial sector in Ontario, Canada in 1971. From 1972 through 2007 he visited and worked in Central & South America, Switzerland, Nova Scotia, Nelson & District Community Resources Society, WWOOF in Canada, and HIV/Aids Childrens’ Home/Orphanage in Kenya, Africa. He has expertise in different areas like education, finance, floriculture and HIV/Aids prevention activities. He held various volunteer positions in many institutions and community organizations in different countries of the world.

As a part of IUBAT’s worldwide academic rapport with large number of academic institutions and organizations Mr Heuvel is visiting IUBAT to collaborate with development activities, research works and to share knowledge and specialized expertise in the area of English language as well as agriculre. These will highly contribute to enrich knowledge and skills of students of different programs at IUBAT which would help them adjust with realistic situation in the future profession throughout the globe. There may be opportunity to develop cooperative relationship with WWOOF and College of Agricultural Sciences for promoting organic farming for sustainable development.

 

 

 Prof Moureen Maloney

Prof Moureen Maloney RN, BSN, MSN from Langara College, Vancouver BC, Canada arrived Dhaka on October 26, 2008 to join the College of Nursing (CN) at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) as Adjunct Professor. During her semester long stay she will be conducting classes and research work for development of curricula and different areas of education in the CN at IUBAT.

Prof Maloney is a Theoretical and Clinical Instructor in the Langara College and is Consultant to the Minimally Invasive Medical Devices (MDMI) Inc, Canada. Before this, Prof Maloney was associated with the Mohawk College, Hamilton, Ontario, Prison Health Care Unit of Lower Mainland Regional Correctional Centre, Burnaby, BC, Acute Care Hospital, of University of British Columbia Hospital, Vancouver, BC and Bank of Montreal, Ottawa, Ontario in different capacities. Prof Maloney is a Specialist in Genecology, Neurology, Respiratory, E.E.N.T, Ortho and D.P.U.

Prof Maloney received MSC and BSc in Nursing from University of British Columbia, Vancouver and University of Victoria, Victoria, Canada in 1995 and 1989 respectively. She also accomplished one year Criminology from Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC, Certificate Course on Instructional Techniques for College Instructors from Mohawk College, Hamilton, Ontario and Diploma as Registered Nurse from Algonquin College, Ottawa, Canada.

As a part of IUBAT’s worldwide long term academic rapport with large number of academic institutions and organizations Prof  Maloney is visiting IUBAT to collaborate with development activities, research works, curriculum development and to share knowledge and specialized expertise in the area of instructive nursing education. These will highly contribute to enrich knowledge and skills of students of the College of Nursing at IUBAT which would help them develop better understanding with realistic situation in the profession and provide leadership in the global context.

 

 

Ms Katherine A. Scott

Ms Katherine A. Scott from the Athabasca University, Calgary, AB, Canada recently arrived at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) to join in the College of Nursing (CN) as Visiting Fellow. As a part of IUBAT’s co-operative rapport with the Athabasca University, Canada, this is the second visit of Ms Scott. Ms Scott will be conducting classes for nursing students and carry out research work in the field of nursing education at IUBAT.

Ms Katherine A Scott received her degrees from the University of Western Ontario, London, Humber College, Toronto, MT Royal College and Athabasca University, Calgary, and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, England. As to her professional engagement, she was associated with Mineral Springs Hospital, Banff, Canmore General Hospital, Canmore and Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary, Canada in different capacities and she also volunteered in CURE International Hospital, Kabul, Afghanistan. Ms Scott is the active member of Canadian Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, Emergency Nurses Association of Alberta, Ontario Nurses Association and Canadian Ski Instructors alliance.

As a part of IUBAT’s worldwide long term academic rapport with large number of academic institutions, Ms Scott is visiting IUBAT to collaborate with development activities, research works, and to share knowledge and specialized expertise in the area of nursing education. These will highly contribute to enrich knowledge and skills of students of the College of Nursing at IUBAT which would help them develop better understanding with realistic situation of the profession at the global context.

 

 

Ms Tracy Tan

On October 7, 2008 Ms Tracy Tan from University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada arrived at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) to join in the College of Nursing (CN) as Visiting Fellow. She is visiting IUBAT as a part of co-operative rapport with the  University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada. Ms Tan will be conducting  laboratory classes for nursing students and carry out research work  in the field of nursing education at IUBAT.

Ms Tracy has specialization in Medical Laboratory Science education. She received her degree in laboratory science from the University of British Columbia. She has been bestowed with the Professor C F A Culling-Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science Prize, Donald M McLean Prize in Medical Microbiology, Trek Excellence Scholarship for Continuing Students, Undergraduate Scholar Program Scholarship, Norman Basco Prize in Atmospheric Chemistry and Science Scholar and Dean’s Honour List awards from the University of British Columbia, Canada for her distinctive performance in the diverse branches of education.

As to her distinguished medical laboratory and technical skills, Ms Tracy has vast understanding over lon exchange, gel filtration and thin layer chromatography, SDS-PAGE electrophoresis, Western blot, Genomic DNA isolation, PCR, Southern blot and direct gel hybridization, Tissue culture, specifically human cancer cell lines and fibroblast cells, flow cytometer, ultracentrifuge, spectrophotometer, light an phase contrast microscope, and hemocytometer. As to her affiliation, Ms Tracy is the member of the Golden Key International Honour Society and UBC-Universities Allied for Essential Medicine Organization, Canada.

Ms Deirdre Evans

Ms Deirdre Evans MSW, Senior Mental Health Therapist from Vancouver Community Mental Health Services, British Columbia, Canada arrived Dhaka in the first week of October 2008 to join the College of Nursing (CN) at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) as Adjunct Professor. During her semester long stay she will be conducting classes and research work for development of curricula and different areas of education in the CN at IUBAT.

During her previous visits to IUBAT, she conducted classes in psychiatric nursing and acted as observer professional in the College of Nursing of IUBAT, presented daylong workshops on Drug Abuse: What We Know and What We Can Do About It in January, 2007 and Assessment and Treatment of Schizophrenia and Other Psychotic Illnesses in November 2005.

Ms Evans has an extensive background working in both hospital and community psychiatry in Canada. Since 1989 she has been worked with Vancouver Community Mental Health Services, which manages a comprehensive and integrated system for the treatment of people suffering from mental illnesses. Professionals from all over the world have traveled to Vancouver to observe this world-class system of care. Ms Evans teaches local mental health workers through Douglas Community College in Vancouver. She currently works for SAFER, an organization which specializes in the area of suicide.

As to her education, Ms Evans received MSW and BSW from the University of British Columbia and BA in English from the McMaster University, Hamilton in 1990, 1988 and 1970 respectively.
