I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of joining of Md. Enamul Karim on April 1, 2008 as a Faculty of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences of IUBAT—International University of Business Agriculture and Technology.

 

Md. Enamul Karim received his Master of Science degree in Mathematics from University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Before that he completed his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the same University.

 

He had his Higher Secondary Certificate in Science from Comilla Victoria Govt. College, Comilla and Secondary School Certificate from Comilla Zilla School, Comilla..

 

He comes from a renowned family of Burichong, Comilla. His father is a retired Professor of Comilla Victoria Govt. College and mother is an ex-headmaster of Cantonment Girls High School, Comilla. He has only one sister. He loves reading, traveling, playing football and watching different types of games on television. His dream is some day Bangladesh will be a poverty free country.

Joining of Mr. Kazi Khaled Shams Chisty

 

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of joining of Mr. Kazi Khaled Shams Chisty on March 22, 2008 as a faculty in the College of Business Administration of IUBAT—International University of Business Agriculture and Technology.

 

Mr. Chisty received his Masters of Science degree in Business Administration from Columbus State University, Columbus, Georgia, USA. He received the degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Columbus State University, Columbus, Georgia, USA.

 

 He studied in Vincennes University, Vincennes, Indiana, USA and received Associate in Science degree from there.

 

He had his Higher Secondary School Certificate in Humanities from Tejgaon College, Tejgaon, Dhaka and Secondary School Certificate in Science from Tejgaon Polytechnic Government Boys High School, Tejgaon, Dhaka.    

 

He has the experience of working in East West University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration from February 1998 to December  2008. Besides teaching his job responsibility at East West University included work as Proctor, Career Councilor and Sports Club Moderator.

 

He was also a visiting faculty of State University of Bangladesh and South East University Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has six publications in renowned national and international journals and news papers to his credit. 

 

He comes from a renowned Sufi family of Sailo-Kupa, Jenaidah.  His father is a retired joint secretary of Bangladesh National Parliament and mother is a housewife. He has only one sister. He loves reading, traveling, playing cricket and watching different types of games on television and in the fields too. His dream is some day Bangladesh will be a poverty free country.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of joining of Mr. Nur Ahmad Chisty as System Administrator in the Department of Computer Sciences and Engineering of the College of Engineering and Technology (CEAT). He will look after the total computer and network system of this university.

 

Mr. Chisty received his BSc Engineering degree in Computer Science with CGPA 3.50 from Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology. Earlier he studied in Notre Dame College & BCIC School for HSC and SSC respectively. He has also scored 6.0 (average) in IELTS exam. He has also passed MCP and CCNA exam. He is currently taking preparation for MCSE exam and advanced training on ISP setup.

 

Before joining in this university he had been working for four years as network administrator in BMHM College, Qatar and IT Security Administrator in GSS Group, Qatar.

 

He comes from a renowned family named patwary in Laxmipur. His father is Deputy Chief Chemist in BISF Ltd. and mother was ex-teacher of a high school. He has one younger brother who is studying Economics in Jahangirnagar University. He is not married yet. He loves reading, traveling and surfing internet. His dream is to build a world without digital divide.

 Joining of Mr. Mir Asif Asgar

 

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of joining of Mr Mir Asif Asgar as a Faculty of the College of Engineering and Technology (CEAT) in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) on March 22, 2008.

 

Mr. Asgar received his BSc degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) with first class from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in January 2008. His undergraduate major was solid-state electronics. He has possessed a passion for teaching from his childhood and has understandably chosen the faculty position at IUBAT as career’s first job.

 

 Mr. Asgar passed his HSC from Dhaka College and SSC from Government Laboratory High School in the years 2002 and 2000 respectively. All through his student life, he was associated with various extra curricular activities and group works. He was a member of the Debating Club of the Laboratorians (DCL). He was a student member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and an active member of BUET Film Society (BFS). In addition, he was in the Organizing Committees and participant in various cultural programs in BUET.

 

Mr. Asgar comes from a distinguished family currently living in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. His father is a representative of British Red Cross in Bangladesh and his mother is a housewife. He has a younger brother. He loves reading and traveling. He wishes to pursue higher degrees and contribute in the educational development of Bangladesh.

 

I expect wholehearted cooperation from every one of you with all the activities of Mr. Asgar and I request you to support him in setting a higher standard of education in the area of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at IUBAT.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of joining of Ms Sumaiya Minnat on December 17, 2007 as a faculty in the College of Business Administration (CBA). I would expect all of you to join me in welcoming Ms Sumaiya Minnat in her new position.

 

Ms Sumaiya Minnat received her MBA degree, major in Marketing, from IB A, University of Dhaka in the year 2005. She completed her BSc degree in Computer Science from North South University and did her A'level and O'level from the Aga Khan School, Dhaka.

 

After completing her MBA, she joined Bank Asia Ltd as a Management Trainee Officer. Then she went to London towards the end of 2005 and started her career as a Marketing Executive in Service Innovation Group, UK. She also worked in Adept Field Marketing, UK as a Marketing Executive till January 2008.

 

She comes of a teaching family; her father is the Head of Computer Science Department in Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. She has 1 brother and 1 sister.

 

She loves playing guitar m her leisure time. She is very ambitious and wants to do her PhD from a world-class university. Her dream is to see Bangladesh transform from a developing country to a developed one.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of joining of Mr. Dilip Kumar Das on September 20, 2007 as a Faculty in the Department of Mathematics, Colleges of Arts and Sciences.

 

Mr. Das received his MSc degree with first class in Applied Mathematics from the University of Dhaka. Before that he had completed his BSc (Hons) from the same the University. Earlier he studied in Comilla Victoria Goverment College & Comilla Iswar Pathshala for HSC and SSC respectively. He is currently pursuing his MPhil degree in Mathematics in Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET).

 

Before joining in this University he was the lecturer of the University of Comilla (UNIC) during the period April 1, 1998 to December 2005.In 2006 he worked as a lecturer in the Sholars School and College, Dhanmondi. From the January 2007 to September 19, 2008 he was the Principle of CDF School & College.

 

In his profession he was the Chairman (in-charge) and Convener of the Examination Committee of Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) of UNIC for different terms.

 

He is also a Visiting faculty in the Higher Secondary Teachers Training Institute (HSTTI) Kotbari, Comilla.

 

He comes from a renowned family in the Comilla town. His father is a retired respective government officer and mother is a housewife. He has four brothers and one sister. He loves reading, traveling, watching game. His dream is a Bangladesh with happy people.

Mr Md Abu Horaira received his BATHM degree from the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) of IUBAT — International University of Business Agriculture and Technology, Bangladesh. Earlier he obtained three years Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management from IIAS School of Management, Darjeeling, India. He completed HSC from Dhaka City College; stream was commerce and SSC from Kishoreganj Government Boys High School, Kishoreganj as well.

 

He comes of a respected Muslim family. He is the only son of his parents and has an only younger sister who is married. His parents are philanthropists and involved with social and cultural activities.

 

He loves playing cricket, football, badminton and pool. He is also fond of reading books, listening music as well as watching classic movies. He used to play for the Cricket Coaching School (CCS), Dhanmondi, Dhaka. He loves to participate in various social activities. He is a good dancer.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news that RN Judy Morton from British Columbia, Canada arrived on January 9, 2008 as a Visiting Faculty to the College of Nursing (CN) at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT). During this 4th visit for 2 months she will be conducting classes, clinical and research work for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.

 

As a part of long term academic collaboration with a large number of Canadian academic institutions for exchange of ideology, technology, information and students in the light of education to facilitate quality education system in the two countries, RN Morton continually visits IUBAT to help the College of Nursing at IUBAT.

 

RN Morton received her education from Selkirk College, Canada. To her profession, RN Morton held different positions in the area of nursing education at BC Children’s Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital, Trail Regional Hospital and Mount Saint Francis Hospital in Canada. She is an active member of Registered Nurses Association of British Columbia.

 

As a part of IUBAT’s worldwide long term academic rapport with large number of academic institutions and organizations RN Morton is visiting IUBAT to collaborate with development activities, research works and to share knowledge and specialized expertise in the area of nursing education. I have the pleasure to share with you the good news that Prof Alex Berland from University of British Columbia, Canada arrived on January 9, 2008 as a Visiting Professor in Health Sciences of the College of Nursing (CN) at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT). During this 4th visit for 2 months he will be conducting classes, clinical and research work for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program as well as  work on development of other health sciences program at IUBAT.

 

As a part of long term academic collaboration with a large number of Canadian academic institutions for exchange of ideology, technology, information and students in the light of education to facilitate quality education system in the two countries, Prof Berland continually visits IUBAT to help the College of Nursing at IUBAT. Prof Berland is hopeful that IUBAT’s commitment of human resources development through quality education will be realized through careful innovation for skilled human resource development through nursing and other educational programs in the country. It is mentioned that IUBAT has academic co operation with the University of British Columbia and Prof Berland is the Advisor to the College of Health Sciences of IUBAT.

 

To his profession, Prof Berland is a versatile senior executive and consultant with experience leading change in government (UK and Canada), all sectors of the health care industry, in education and in community development. Since 2001, President of his own consulting firm, Prof Berland leads system-level planning studies and policy reviews, governance development projects, organizational and operational reviews, evaluation studies and strategic development. His clients include health authorities, First Nations and government departments in Canada, USA and UK, with major projects in primary health care, mental health and addictions, hospital organization, Aboriginal health and HIV/AIDS.

 

During 2000-01 Prof Berland worked in the U.K. as a Senior Civil Servant, Department of Health. In this strategy and planning role he led national projects in surgical access, blood services, laboratories, acute care standards, private hospital development and regulation and hospital restructuring. This challenging role focused on improving access, accountability, governance and stakeholder relations as part of system-wide modernization for a population base over 50 million.

 

Prior to this as CEO, Prof Berland led British Columbia's only tertiary psychiatric hospital (800 beds) through a major organizational renewal. Concurrently, as Provincial Director, Adult Mental Health, he implemented a provincial mental health reform plan in a complex stakeholder environment that involved patients, families and staff in planning for change.

 

From 1992-97 while Vice President at a 1200-bed teaching hospital, he implemented a program management structure in a portfolio of more than 4000 staff and physicians covering all clinical areas from emergency department to operating rooms and geriatric care. Hospital mergers, program transfers, laboratory redesign and major restructuring were key accomplishments.

 

Prof Berland develops leadership skills of managers and physicians in creative, high-energy teams. He builds quality improvement into all operations and promotes harmonious stakeholder relationships through diligence and mutual respect.

 

As Adjunct Professor in UBC Faculty of Medicine, Prof Berland teaches and mentors undergraduate and graduate students. As a volunteer, he has served many grass roots community agencies, was executive board member of a primary care centre for ten years, currently sits on the board of Canadian Mental Health Association, and visits Bangladesh annually to assist in  the on-going a nursing education programme as well as development of new programs in health sciences.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news that RN Sandra Rubin from Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Vancouver, BC, Canada arrived on Thursday, January 3, 2007 for a month long visit as Visiting Faculty to the College of Nursing (CN) at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT). During this visit she will be conducting classes besides research work to nourish the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program as well as CN at IUBAT. I expect all of you to join me in welcoming RN Rubin in her position at IUBAT.

 

RN Rubin received her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees from University of Western Ontario, and Diploma of Nursing from St. Paul’s Hospital School of Nursing, Canada. Her extensive involvement in volunteer activities in the area of nursing in Vancouver, New York and Africa helped her acquire in-depth understanding and practical skill of different dimensions in developed and developing settings.

 

She is the Director of Vancouver Community Health and from 1997 through 2002 she served Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre as the Patient Services Director and 1991 to 1997 RN Rubin worked in Vancouver Hospital as Clinical Nurse Specialist Cardiac Sciences. Earlier she was Expanded Role Nurse of Cardiology at University Hospital and Lecturer & Clinical Instructor, Faculty of Nursing, University of Western Ontario, London. She also worked in Cross Cultural Solutions, New York, USA and in a rural hospital in Tanzania, Africa. She is bringing in valuable experiences of specialized and community care to the nursing program at IUBAT.

 

As a part of IUBAT’s worldwide academic rapport with number of academic institutions and organizations RN Rubin is visiting IUBAT to collaborate with development activities, research works and to share knowledge and specialized expertise in the area of nursing. I have the pleasure to share with you the good news that Mr John Vanden Heuvel from Nelson, British Columbia, Canada arrived on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 for a semester long visit as Visiting Faculty to the Department of Languages (DL) and College of Agricultural Sciences at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT). During this visit he will be conducting classes besides research work to nourish the English competency of the students studying in different programs as well development of DL at IUBAT. Besides, he is planning to work with the agriculture faculty on farming practices, more particularly organic farming. I expect all of you to join me in welcoming  Mr Heuvel in his position at IUBAT.

 

As to his association with educational activities, Mr Heuvel received his education from Translators School and Pedagogical Institute in Switzerland. He was an English Teacher at Waldorf School and Migros Klub Schule in Switzerland and English Teacher at Japanese Canadian International College, British Columbia, Canada. 

 

Mr Heuvel is the Founder of World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms Canada (WWOOFC) and in this capacity maintained contacts with different educational institutions, government and non-government organizations in different countries through his life. He started his profession in financial sector in Ontario, Canada in 1971. From 1972 through 2007 he visited and worked in Central & South America, Switzerland, Nova Scotia, Nelson & District Community Resources Society, WWOOF in Canada, and HIV/Aids Childrens’ Home/Orphanage in Kenya, Africa. He has expertise in different areas like education, finance, floriculture and HIV/Aids prevention activities. He held various volunteer positions in many institutions and community organizations in different countries of the world.

 

As a part of IUBAT’s worldwide academic rapport with large number of academic institutions and organizations Mr Heuvel is visiting IUBAT to collaborate with development activities, research works and to share knowledge and specialized expertise in the area of English language as well as agriculture. These will highly contribute to enrich knowledge and skills of students of different programs at IUBAT which would help them adjust with realistic situation in the future profession throughout the globe. There may be opportunity to develop cooperative relationship with WWOOF and College of Agricultural Sciences for promoting organic farming for sustainable development.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news that RN Lorill Harding from Selkirk College, Canada arrived on Thursday, January 3, 2007 for a month long visit as Visiting Professor to the College of Nursing (CN) at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT). During this visit she will be conducting classes besides research work to nourish the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program as well as CN at IUBAT. I expect all of you to join me in welcoming RN Harding in her position at IUBAT.

 

RN Harding received her M.A. in Educational Leadership and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from San Diego State University and University of Victoria respectively. Later she did her certification on Gerontological Nursing from Canadian Nurses’ Association. In 2006 she was bestowed the Professional Excellence in Teaching award. She has also written and published several research papers in the area of nursing education.

 

RN Harding has extensive experience in nursing practice and education. She started her professional career in 1972 as Staff RN acute medicine/ICU at Vancouver General Hospital and Kootney Lake Hospital and worked there for 7 years. She worked as Head Nurse, Intensive/Coronary Care Unit at Kootney Lake Hosptal at Nelson,Britsh Columbia for 5 years and then moved to Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria as Staff Nurse/Team Leader of Intensive Care Unit. RN Harding started her teaching career as Clinical Teacher of Medical Cardiology at Victoria General Hospital for 5 years and then moved into Selkrik College as Instructor of Long Term Care Aides in 1993. She also worked as Director of Nursing/Clinical Services of Area Health Council of Nelson. Since 1999 RN Harding has been working as Nursing Instructor of Baccalaureate Nursing Program at Selkrik College at Castelgar,British Columbia.

 

As a part of IUBAT’s worldwide academic rapport with number of academic institutions RN Harding is visiting IUBAT to collaborate with development activities, research works and to share knowledge and specialized expertise in the area of nursing. These will highly contribute to enrich practical, theoretical and technical knowledge and skills of BSN students of IUBAT which would help them adjust with realistic situation in the future profession. It may be mentioned that RN Harding is the second visiting professor from Selkrik College and an agreement on academic cooperation between IUBAT and Selkrik College is presently undergoing finalization.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of joining of Ms. Arifa Tur Rahman on January 01, 2008 as a full time faculty in Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the College of Engineering and Technology (CEAT). I expect all of you to join me in welcoming Arifa in her new position.

 

She did her Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) from IUBAT- International University of Business Agriculture and Technology in 2006. Now she is completing her Master of Computer Science and Engineering (MSCSE) from United International University. She served in Mercantile Bank Ltd, Elephant Road Branch, and Dhaka as an IT officer from January 15, 2006 to December 02, 2006. He is currently pursuing his MSc in Civil and Transportation Engineering at BUET. Earlier he studied in Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah College and Debhata B.B.M.P. Secondary School, Satkhira for HSC and SSC respectively.

 

Mr Rahman is an associate member of Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB). He is also member of some international organizations which include the Institution of Highways and Transportation, UK, International Society for Environmental Information Sciences (ISEIS) and World Environmental Organization (WEO).

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of Dr Md Emdadul Hoque’s joining on September 1, 2007 as a full time faculty in the College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS). I expect all of you to join me in welcoming Dr Haque in his new position.

 

He did his B.Sc Ag (Hons) and M. Sc Ag in Entomology from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh in 1972 and 1974 respectively. He did his MS from University of Philippines at Los Banos and PhD from Dhaka University in 1982 and 1993 respectively. He joined Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Joydebpur, Gazipur as a Scientific Officer in April, 1975 and promoted as a Senior Scientific Officer in 1979. He was promoted as a Principal Scientific Officer and Chief Scientific Officer in 1996 and 2005 respectively. His 64 scientific research papers have been published in national and international journals. Moreover, two books on Vertebrate Pest Management and chapters of some books have been written by him. His 32 articles on Agriculture Production and Pest Management also published in different newspapers and periodicals. He is well known as a good sport organizer and social worker in BARI. He retired from service on April 29, 2007. During his service period, he joined several international seminars, conferences, workshops and trainings in different countries e.g. USA, Australia, UAE, Thailand and Philippines. He has been attached with Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangabondhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman Agricultural University and Bangladesh Open University as thesis supervisor and examiner and reviewer of some scientific journals in Bangladesh. He was two terms General Secretary of Bangladesh Entomological Society.

 

Dr M. E. Haque hails from Gazaria upazilla of Munshigonj district. He is married and father of 2 lovely daughters.

Shaikh Ershad Hossain worked as Manager and Program Coordinator at IITM (International Institute of Technology & Management) for about 4 years. He also has 5 years of hotel related job experience in Cyprus.

 

He is founder member of “Friends Association”, a charitable association.

 

Shaikh Ershad Hossain was born in Dhaka. He started his education in Wills Little Flower School at Dhaka and attended Tejgaon College.

Monsur Ahmed received his Master’s degree in Economics and Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration in the United States. He earned his Bachelor’s degree with Cum Laude (Medallion), which is a top tier academic distinction in the US Monsur obtained his HSC and SSC from the Jhenidah Cadet College majoring in Science.

 

Two of his brothers are engineers as his father is. His major was also engineering in the United States, but changed to economics and business as the US job market turned sour for engineering majors during early 90s to mid 90s.

 

Monsur has keen interest in global capital markets and their economic indicators.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of Mr S M Walid Rahman’s joining on July 14, 2007 as a faculty in the Department of Languages of the College of Arts and Sciences at IUBAT—International University of Business Agriculture and Technology. I would expect all of you to join me in welcoming Mr S M Walid Rahman in his new position. 

 

Mr Rahman accomplished his MA in Applied Linguistics with second class from the Dhaka University and BA (Hons) in English from the same university with second class. He passed HSC in 1983 from Adamjee Cantonment College and SSC in 1981 from Central Govt Boys’ high School.

 

Mr Rahman taught in Oxford International School, Scholastica, the Aga Khan School, BRAC University and UODA as an English Instructor. He attended several teacher training programmes and workshops for further professional development. Presently he is pursuing MA in ELT (English Language Teaching). He is also working on dissertation and look forward to publishing it sometime. He is Member of BELTA (Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association) and its Executive Committee. His field of interest is EFL/ESL writing, material developing and some areas in sociolinguistics. Mr Rahman has a strong academic bent of mind and has a passion for teaching.

 

His only hobby is developing himself professionally and wants to overcome the barriers in teaching English as a Second Language at secondary and tertiary level.

 

Mr Walid Rahman hails from Jessore. He is married and god blessed him a lovely son.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of Wing Commander K A Matin’s joining on 14 July 2007 as a full time faculty in the Department of Languages, College of Arts and Sciences (CAAS). I would expect all of you to join me in welcoming Wing Commander Matin in his new position.

 

He did his BA (Hons) and Masters in English from Dhaka University in 1973 and 1974 respectively. He then joined Bahwal Badre Alam College in Joydevpur as a lecturer in English. From there he joined Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) and got his Commission in Education Branch in 1979. He served BAF for 28 years in different capacities and recently, he has gone on LPR. He visited UK in 1981 and did Ground Instruction Techniques (GIT) course on class management and IT from Royal Air Force (RAF). Mr Matin served in the UN Mission for one year in Democratic republic of Congo as a member of Bangladesh Air Contingent. He performed “Hajj” in 2005. He visited a few countries e.g. UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, DR Congo, Uganda and Kenya. He is a member of Dhaka University English Department Alumni Society.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of Dr. Mohd. Rabiul Alam’s joining on June 13, 2007 as a full time faculty in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) under the College of Engineering and Technology (CEAT). I would expect all of you to join me in welcoming Dr. Alam in his new position.

Dr. Mohd. Rabiul Alam was born in 1966 in Mirpur, District Kushtia.

 

He completed his primary education in 1976 from Mirpur Government Primary School. From 1976 to 1982, he studied in the Mirpur High School, Kushtia and in 1982 he passed the SSC examination with first division from science group. In 1984 he passed the HSC examination from New Government Degree College, Rajshahi with first division from science group.

 

He got admitted to the University of Dhaka in 1985-86 session.

 

In 1987, he received a scholarship and went to former Soviet Union. After completing 1 year preliminary course from Agromachine Building Institute of Rostov-on-Don, he got admitted to Lugansk Machine Building Institute where he completed 1st year in Mechanical Engineering. And then, he was allowed to change specialty to Electroenergetical Engineering and went to study in the Donetsk Polytechnical Institute and in 1991 he migrated to Moscow State Mining University (MSMU).

In 1995, he completed MSc Engineering in “Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations and Technological Complexes” in the Department of Electrification Mines of MSMU with the Excellent.

 

In 2004, he completed his PhD in Technical Sciences in “Basis of Rational Parameters of Electric Supply System in Industrial Enterprises of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh” from MSMU, and then he went to do a Post Doctoral Research Course on the “Problems of Energy Management” in 2006 in the same University.

 

Dr. Alam had worked for 8 years (1995-2003) as a Deputy Director General in a Moscow based Private Electronics Company (Electrical and Electronics Products), and as an Executive Director for 2 years (2004-05) in a Singapore based Multinational Electronics Company (Electrical and Electronics Products).

 

Dr. Mohd. Rabiul Alam has three published papers and a number of unpublished papers.

 

In 2006, he has come to Bangladesh and decided to stay here.

Dr Rahman received his PhD degree from Dublin City University, Ireland. He has received BSc degree with first class (CGPA 3.41) in Metallurgical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1999. Earlier he studied in Notre Dame College and Sher-e-Bangla High School for HSC and SSC.

 

Dr Mafizur is a member of Bangladesh Institute of Engineers (IEB) and Bangladesh Society of Mechanical Engineering (BSME).

 

After graduation he established a computer software and hardware company. He was a faculty member of Aptech Computer Systems for 5 months till leaving to Ireland for higher education.

Mr. Alam completed his primary education from Dhakhinkan Primary School, Uttara, Dhaka. He got his Secondary and Higher Secondary Certificate from B.A.F Shaheen College, Dhaka. He worked as a Lecturer and Center Manager at Informatics a Singapore based IT institute in Bangladesh, after his graduation in Computer Science and Engineering from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology. He has established a lot of small IT educational centers in different Upazilas at Feni district. He also got the best organizer and the best teacher award from Feni Informatics Center.

 

He has obtained his Master of Science degree with a major in Information Technology specialized in Engineering and Management of Information System from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. He was working as a lecturer for different educational institutes and multicultural organizations at Stockholm, Helsinki during his stay abroad. He had attended a lot of IT education and mobile communication related seminars at Stockholm, Helsinki, Paris, London, Rome and Chicago. He also visited Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, UK and USA for educational purposes and seminars.

 

As for his future career, he has a strong motivation to pursue a Ph.D. degree. He is highly motivated to be a professional in teaching especially in his native universities for his future career. He has both Engineering and Management qualification. He is always very optimistic, aggressive and likes to work in groups.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of S M Saleh Reza’s joining on April 25, 2007 as a full time faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) under the College of Engineering and Technology (CEAT). I would expect all of you to join me in welcoming S M Saleh Reza in his new position.

 

Saleh Reza was born in Khulna in his maternal home. In his childhood, he passed the times in Khulna and started his study in Khulna Zilla School. In 1994, he has been admitted to Barisal Cadet College, a subsidiary organ of Bangladesh Army.

 

In 1998, he stood 10th position in combined merit list in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination under Jessore Board. Then, in the year 2000, he passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination under Jessore Board. He has earned B.Sc. Engineering degree with first class in Mechanical Engineering (MCE) from Islamic University of Technology (IUT), a subsidiary organ of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). In 2005, he went to London, UK for higher study, but, before completing the degree, he had returned home due to serious sickness. He is working presently to earn a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree from North South University. He is doing his major in Human Resource Management & Operations Management.

 

Saleh Reza worked as Faculty & Coordinator in S@ifur’s educational institution for 3 years on contractual basis. He also worked as a HR Executive in ‘e-Zone’; a Headhunter organization.

 

Saleh Reza is also involved in social and charitable activities. He is a life member of ‘Quantum Blood Donation Program’, and some other social welfare organizations.

 

He is a member of Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), Bangladesh Society of Mechanical Engineering (BSME) & Bangladesh Society of Human Resource Management (BSHRM)

 

He has a keen interest in Bengali literature. Salim Reza’s joining on December 23, 2006 as a full time faculty in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) of the College of Engineering and Technology (CEAT). I would expect all of you to join me in welcoming Engr. Salim Reza in his new position.

 

Salim Reza born in Khulna in his maternal home. In his childhood, he passed times in Khulna and started his study in Khulna Zilla School. In 1994, he has been admitted to Barisal Cadet College, a subsidiary organ of Bangladesh Army.

 

In 1998, he stood 2nd position in combined merit list in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination under Jessore Board. Then, in the year 2000, he stood 19th in combined merit list in Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination under Jessore Board. He has achieved a B.Sc. degree with First Class in Computer Science & Information Technology (CIT) from Islamic University of Technology (IUT), a subsidiary organ of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). In 2005, he went to London, UK for higher study, but, before completing the degree, he had returned home due to to chronic sinusitis. Presently, he is working for M.Sc Engineering (thesis) in Electrical & Telecommunication Engineering (ETE) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Abdus Sobhan.

 

Salim Reza worked as ‘System Administrator’ in American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AMCHAM) for 2(two) years from January 2002 to December 2004 on part time basis. He worked as Lecturer in Dept. of Computer Science in Manarat Dhaka International College (MDIC) for 1(one) year. He worked as Lecturer in School of Science & Engineering in City University, Banani, Dhaka for 8(eight) months. He worked as Coordinator in S@ifur’s educational institution for 18(eighteen) months on contractual basis.

 

Salim Reza is also involved in social and charitable activities. He is life time member of ‘Quantum Blood Donation Program’, and some other social welfare activities.

 

He is an associate member of Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) and member of Institution of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (IEEE), Bangladesh branch.

 

His first research paper on ‘Load Demand Prediction of a Power System by Applying an Intelligent Method’ was published in International Conference on Electrical & Computer Engineering (ICECE) 2004. Two other undergoing review for publication.

 

His first book titled as “Siratun Nabi (sm)”, life story of Hazrat Muhammad (sm) (ISBN: 984-8075-26-7) has been published on the occasion of last Ekushey Book Fair 2007. Next book titled as “Women Rights in Islam” is going to be published on the occasion of Ekushey Book Fair 2008.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of Dr M A Mannan joining on January 2, 2007 as a full time Professor of the College of Business Administration (CBA). I would expect all of you to join me in welcoming Dr M A Mannan in his new position.

 

As a well known scholar, researcher and writer in the area of accounting and business education, Dr Mannan did his M.Com in Accounting from the University of Dhaka. He got the UGC (University Grant Commission of Bangladesh) Fellowship for study in PhD degree program. During his PhD program, he worked in different universities in India e.g. Kolkata University, Kallayani University and Bardman University. He got the PhD degree from the University of Dhaka in 1989.

 

Dr Mannan started his career as a Lecturer of Accounting as a nominee of PSC (Public Service Commission of Bangladesh) . As a BCS (Education) Cadre Officer he served different Govt Colleges such as Govt Jagannath University College, Dhaka, Govt Eden Mohila University College, Dhaka. He also served in the Islamic University, Kushtia as the Chairman, Department of Accounting, Provost, Saddam Hossain Hall, and Proctor, Islamic University.

 

He has written number of text books namely Cost Accounting, Management Accounting (Honours and Masters Level), Cost Accounting-I, Cost Accounting-II (published by the Technical Education Board, Dhaka). He is also well known for his research articles, published by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh, Dhaka, The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh, Dhaka, The Islamic University Studies, Kustia.

 

He also served IUBAT from 1993 to 1996. As a nominee of IUBAT, he participated in "Training of Trainers in the International Commercial Diplomacy" held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia conducted by the UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) in 1996.

 

He was Vice-President, Islamic University Teachers Association, Vice -Chairman, Serajgonj Zila Samity, Dhaka.

 

He hails from Sirajgonj. He is married and proud father of two sons and one daughter.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of Principal Manik Kanti Mazumder’s joining on November 19, 2006 as a full time Professor in the College of Business Administration (CBA). I would expect all of you to join me in welcoming Prof Manik Kanti Majumder in his new position.

 

As a well-experienced professional in the field of management education, he holds B.Com (Hons.) and M.Com. degrees from Rajshahi University. He had undergone a number of quality training in educational service delivery and subject areas from the University of Dhaka and the World Bank sponsored programs.

 

Prof. Mazumcler has to his credit, a long administrative and educational career. He served as a cost accountant at Star Jute Mill, Khulna. He then moved to Rajendra College, Faridpur as a lecturer. He was transferred to Kustia Government College, Kustia as an assistant professor. He moved again to Saroda Sundori Mohila College, Faridpur, as an assistant professor. He was promoted as associate professor and transferred to Government Rajendra College, Faridpur. He moved to Government Shawardi College Dhaka. He was then promoted to professor and moved again to Government Rajendra College, Faridpur. Finally, he joined as principal of Government Saroda Sundori Mohila College, Faridpur.

 

Prof. Mazumder is also a course and curriculum designer, developer, examiner, and moderator of National University and almost all the Education Boards in Bangladesh. He was the head examiner of commerce of Dhaka Board. Prof. Mazumder very ably managed the colleges headed by him. He was the Vice President of Government College Teachers Association. He had traveled across the country and contributed significantly to development of business education. He teaches management, auditing, taxation, and law.

 

Above all he is so rich in humane qualities that he shows magnificently towards friends and acquaintances. He provides great support to the young colleagues in the field of management education. He is a great inspiration to his colleagues. He loves to guide others, and improve the quality and standard of education. In the field of management education he is recognized as an institution.

Mr. A K M Ahsnaul Hoque joined at IUBAT on April 3, 2004 as a Faculty, Systems Administrator in College of Engineering and Technology.  His long time working experience both in teaching and industry will strengthen IUBAT Computer Science and Engineering Program.  

 

 

Mr A K M Ahsanul Hoque has an MBA from BU, with a major in Marketing.  He did his BCS for IUBAT. He did his HSC and SSC from Ispahani Public School and College, in Comilla Cantonment, Comilla.  

 

Before joining here, Mr Hoque served in Informatics as a Lecturer and Programmer from August 2000 to 31, December 2002, then he served in BRAC IBM-ACE as a Lecturer and Programmer from June 8, 2001 to September 5, 2001.  Then he joined at Nahin Net Limited UK based Software and Web Application development company as a Manager and Systems Analyst of Bangladesh from September12, 2002 to September 30, 2003.  Along with these he also did many consultancies both in Software development, Database design and Management and also in Networking fields.  

 

 

Mr Hoque gained wide exposure to different levels of educational institutions specifically in IT and software organizations. Mr Hoque has developed many software, web application software, and dynamic web pages for different local and foreign organization. 

 

Mr Hoque hails from Nabinagar, Brahman Baria, and was born in 1978 in Dhaka. I would expect all of you to join me in welcoming Mr Farid Ahmed in his new position. Mr Ahmed has already developed acquaintance with many of you. Some snapshots of his career are given below:

 

Mr Ahmed completed Bachelor of Arts (pass) from Dhaka University in 1981, Diploma in Library Science and Master of Arts in Library Science in 1983 from Dhaka University. He also obtained Diploma in French Language from Alliance Francaise de Dhaka in 1988.

 

Before joining here, he worked for about five years in Bangladesh Television as Program Copyist and Production Secretary in the Program department till 1985. Later he joined in Dhaka Sheraton Hotel – a chain of Sheraton Corporation as a Guest Services Agent (GSA) in the Room Division under Front Office Department 1986 and continued hospitality industry services in the information, customer, public and guest relation services areas in different positions. With a view to usage of international second language, he completed Diploma in French Language from Alliance Francaise de Dhaka in 1988. He experienced the SAARC summit held in Dhaka Sheraton Hotel, Bangladesh 1993-94 and extended his professional hospitality industry services 24 hours round the clock during management position as Duty Manager till February 1997 in the same hotel industry.

 

Later on, he did build up his professional hotel management career in the chain of Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts in Dhaka, joined in The Pan Pacific Sonaragaon as Team Leader Guest Services in the Room Division in March 1997 and sustained many positions Assistant Guest Services Manager, Night Manager and Guest Services Manager as department of head till February 2003. He achieved and also enjoyed so many hospitality management experiences in connection with elite people worldwide particularly the special visits to Bangladesh as Head of the State and many high official of government from various countries.

 

He obtained a opportunity to earn the degree MBA specialized Hospitality Management under Dublin Metropolitan University, APS London campus in United Kingdom.2004. During his study & tour education in London - UK, he worked as a Night Manager in Chamberlain Hotel, a four star hotel and Maitre D’hotel in two high-class Indian Cuisine Restaurants in the food and beverage department as assignment and internship of the program. 

 

 His professional degree and practicum in United Kingdom as professional/specialized qualified him further to supervise hospitality management program to which he has been dedicated for last 19 years at various levels of practical experience, education and training.

 

Mr. Ahmed is happily married with one daughter and one son.

Engr. Akther has recently returned to Bangladesh, so that he can serve to Bangladesh and can able to learn from the working condition. He has done his Masters in Science form the "University of Greenwich' in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2003), his project work was "the Solar Powered Water Pumping Systems"/T.

 

Engr Akther did his BSc in EEE from the Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology (AUST, 2001) and his BSc Project was" IT Infra Structure In Bangladesh" under A. T. M Monirul Alam (Director BTTB). He passed the HSC and SSC from the Rifles Public School and College and Ahmed Bawany Academy, Dhaka respectively.

 

Engr Akther has experience in research and development work in the fields of Engineering. He has already submitted research paper on (i) Solar systems in UK, (ii) Robot Programming and Application and (iii) Business Solution for Pontefract PLC UK on strategy and Managements.

 

Before joining here he hold the position of Administrative Officer in The Horizon Trade Ltd" from March, 2004 to January, 2005. He also worked with the "Rahim Afroz CNG Conversion Division" as an Electrical Engineer for about a month, as Techno-Mechanical Support (Part-time) July 03-October 03, in The Delphi Auto Mobile System, as Asst Hardware Engineer in Bangladesh Book Corner and as Graphic Designer in the Commercial Arts Press.

 

He received training on Real Time Operating System Course with Prof. R.C Seals (GRE) for two weeks and on "Anadigm course for two weeks with Asst Prof Wu Ree (GRE) and Troubleshooting on Digital Electronic Equipments Course with Prof Rezwan Khan (BUET). He has also received training on products, manufacturing and marketing strategies and transportation system, rules & regulation on VAT, Medway, Kent, UK.

 

Beside these, he is a very good Drums player and vocal as well. He was the member of the well known Heavy metal Band "The Pandemonium", He also plays soccer, scatting, cricket and so on.

Mr. Edward Probir Mondol obtained his M. B. A. in Marketing Management and Accounting from the Southern Adventist University, Tennessee, USA, following his B. B. A from the same University. Earlier, he completed his Higher Secondary Certificate from AUSB, (Accreditation from AAA, Maryland, USA), Secondary education from Golamnabi Pilot High School, Dhaka Board, Bangladesh.

 

Mr. Mondol has, to his credit a multi disciplinary academic profile in terms of academic and technical professional career. After his HSC he worked as Lab Supervisor, High School Class Instructor, Library Assistant and assistant to the treasurer of a NGO. During the period of his study he worked as a part time Secretary to Dean, School of Education, Pro Vice Chancellor and to Vice Chancellor. After completing his MBA from Southern Adventist University, off campus, India, he was simultaneously working as a marketing executive and accountant.

 

He left his accounting career with a mission to devote himself completely in the education sector for the training of the young generation in the country. It may be mentioned that he had an organizational leadership capability from a very early stage of his life. He started his professional career as a Lecturer of Bangladesh Adventist Seminary and College, Controller of Student Finance, Director-International Aid (Sponsorship Program), aid Treasurer of Seventh Day Adventist Local Church.

 

Mr. Mondol is capable to teach Cost Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Financial Accounting, Business Finance, Government aid Fund Accounting, Management Process, Advertising and Sales Promotion, Business Environment, Auditing, Taxation, Marketing Research, Introduction to Business, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management and Management Information System.

 

He was directly involved in dub activity and was the originator of many social organizations. He is directly involved with publication and had been the editor and sub editor of a Monthly Journal and two (2) Bulletins. He is currently working as a co-editor of Mashik Adibashi. He has also experience in translation, internationally. He had a professional IT training from NIIT. He is a successful web developer. He is directly involved with Pathfinder (Scouting) activities and had been instructor, counselor and assistant Director of Pathfinder (Scouting).

Mr. Mondol hails from Gopalgonj, and was born in 1978 in Gopalgonj. He is devoted on teaching and research. He joined IUBAT with the vision of contributing to teaching and research work for strengthening IUBAT. Monirul Islam joined us as the Faculty and Director of the Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology (CEAT). I would expect all of you to join me welcoming Dr Md. Monirul Islam in his new position.

 

Dr Md Monirul Islam has already developed acquaintance with many of you. Some snapshots of his career are given below:  

 

Dr Md. Monirul Islam completed his B.Sc. Engg. (Civil) from BUET in 1991. He completed his M.Sc. Engg. and Doctor of Engineering (GIS and Remote Sensing on Environmental Hazard) from Japan under the patronage of Japan Government Monbusho Scholarship. He joined as a Research Fellow at the Tropical Marine Science Institute, National University of Singapore after the completion of Doctor of Engineering in the year of 2000 from KIT, Japan. Dr Islam awarded JSPS (Japan Society for Promotion of Science) Fellowship, one of the world famous and prestigious fellowships, from November 2002 and since then he has done his research at KIT, Japan, as a Foreign Visiting Research Fellow till December 2004.

 

Dr Islam has attended more than 40 international and national conferences and he has published sixteen scientific papers in international journals and more than thirty scientific papers in different proceedings and books. He is a regular reviewer of Hydrological Science Journal, Journal of Hazards and Journal of Energy.

 

Dr Md. Monirul Islam has experience in administration and development work in the field of engineering research and environmental sciences. He worked in the field of engineering for about 14 years holding various positions at home and abroad.

 

He loves teaching, research and developing projects. He joined IUBAT with the intention of developing the technical education in the country subscribing to the philosophy of IUBAT.

 

Dr Md Monirul Islam hails from, Hajigonj, Chandpur and he is happily married to Dr Kuazi Dil Afroz and they are blessed with one daughter.

Sk Mosharraf Hossain joined IUBAT on 9 August 2005 as an all time Faculty in the College of Business Administration.

 

Some snapshots of his career are given below.

 

Sk Mosharraf Hossain is an MBA form IBA, Dhaka University with a major in Marketing.

 

Mr Hossain started his career by working for ALICO as Marketing and Training Executive and later joined Bata Shoe Company in the marketing department. Since 1991, he is practicing as a Freelance Marketing Consultant. Subsequently, he worked as the Research Manager in a leading research and consulting firm. He also has been involved in development consultancy, working for many NGOs, donor funded projects and development consulting firms.

 

Mr Hossain gained wide exposure to marketing research and marketing project implementation specifically in small and medium enterprises. He also contributed as resource person in workshops and training sessions in marketing and business communication.

 

Mr Hossain hails from Nawabgonj, Dhaka and was born in 1957 in Chittagong Hill Tracts.

 

He is keen on teaching and research. He joined IUBAT with the intention of contributing to teaching and institutional development including marketing, research & consultancy and community development programs. He subscribes totally to the missions and principles of IUBAT and looks forward to contribute his best in furthering them.

Mr Hoque obtained Bachelor of Computer Science from the College of Engineering and Technology of IUBAT in 2001. He is now undergoing MBA in the BRAC University and it is in the verge of completion. He attended Training in Programming in COBOL and Concept & Logic development in computer programming under CETC at IUBAT in 1998. He also participated in Workshop on Research Practice in Bangladesh at IUBAT in 2004 and Image Building Workshops at BRAC University in 2004.

 

Mr Hoque gathered technical skills on languages, operating systems and web services in IT field.

 

Before joining here, he held the position of Manager and System Analyst in Nahin Net Limited from September 12, 2002 to September 30, 2003. he also served as Lecturer Programmer at Informatic Bangladesh Ltd. from August 2000 to December 2002 and at BRAC IBM-ACE from June 8, 2001 to September 5, 2001. He worked as Teaching Assistant from Spring 2000 to Spring 2004 at IUBAT.

 

Mr Hoque has Project paper and real life experience of software, web application and systems development area, network areas, database area, systems analysis and design and software engineering.

Dr S B Siddique did his B.Ag degree from Dhaka Krishi College in 1965 and M.Sc (Ag) from BAU, Mymensingh in 1968. He did his PhD in Agronomy from Cornell University USA in 1986.

 

Before joining IUBAT as a Professor in the College of Agricultural Sciences he worked as Director (Agriculture), Bangladesh Jute Research Institute and Director General, Bangladesh Rice Research Institute, Gazipur.

 

He has 61 research publications and he loves teaching, research as well as development of projects. He has joined IUBAT with the intension of developing Agricultural education program so that graduates of this university can face and solve the need based problems to make Bangladesh a progressive country with self reliance in agriculture field. 

 

Dr Siddique hails from Sitakunda, Chittagong. He is happily married with two sons.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news that relates to strengthening of the IUBAT team through the joining of Mohammad Ali Ashraf, April 1, 2004 as an all time faculty. Mr Ashraf joined as a all time Faculty in Economics, Finance and Banking at the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Business Administration. His working experience in research, teaching and executive exposure in real life and entrepreneurial zeal will help us in consolidating the Economics, Finance & Banking programs. As an economist, he will be in a position to give us a momentum in strengthening the IUBAT Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited (IMCSL) as a prelude to the idea of creation of a Shikkha Bank to make professional education accessible to all sections of Bangladesh society. Mr Ashraf completed MS in Economics from the University of Ottawa, Canada in 2001 and BScAg from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh in 1986 and stood first in order of merit. He also completed Diploma in Economics from the University of Oslo, Norway in 1990.

 

Before joining here as an All Time Faculty, he held the position of Tutor (Lecturer) at University of Hull, Quebec, Canada (September 2001 to September 2003) and as Teaching Assistant, Department of Economics at the University of Ottawa (September 1999 to May 2001) and at the department of Agricultural Economics of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh (August 1987 to August 1988). He also served as Research Officer in the Research and Development, JDS Uniphase, Ottawa (January 1994 to June 2001) and in the Bureau of Socio-Economic Research and Training (January 1988 to August 1988). He also served as senior officer (Probationary) in Sonali Bank (July-December 1994) also as Administrative Officer (August 1993 – December 1994) at Ashbury College, Ottawa, Canada.

 

He also has computer skills in software of word perfect Microsoft etc.

 

Mr Ashraf has experience in Administration, Research and Teaching. He has several publications on money, banking and finance to his credit.

 

Basically Mr Ashraf is an Economist. He is a specialist in Banking and Finance and Agricultural Economics.

 

He loves teaching as well as research. He is dedicated to his field of specialization. He joined IUBAT with the intention of developing the field of Economic education in the country and initiating alternatives for financing education by students subscribing to the philosophy of IUBAT.

 

Mohammad Ali Ashraf hails from metropolitan Dhaka and is happily married.

Mr Khan obtained Bachelor of Computer Science and Engineering from Khulna University in 1997 and got first class with 4th position in order of merit. Now he is undergoing his MSc Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering in BUET

 

Before joining IUBAT, he served as a Lecturer in Computer Science & Engineering in the Khulna University (October 19, 1997 to May 2001) and as Assistant Professor in East West University, Dhaka (May 18, 2001 to May 18, 2004). He has eight publication to his credit. His research interest is on Quantum: Logic, Reversible logic, Evolutionary Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Graph Theory, Distributed computation, etc.

 

Mr. Khan hails from Khulna. He is married recently and are passing the days merrily.

I have the pleasure to share with you the good news of Group Captain Haz Mohiuddin Alamgir joining IUBAT from August 21, 2004 as an all time Faculty in the Department of Languages, College of Arts and Sciences. His long time working experience in Teaching and Administration, both civil and military services, will give us momentum in strengthening IUBAT languages program. I would expect all of you to join me in welcoming Group Captain Haz Mohiuddin Alamgir in his new position.

 

Group Capt Haz M Alamgir has already developed acquaintance with many of you. Some snapshots of his career are given below:

 

Mr Alamgir completed BA (Hons) in English from Dhaka University in 1962 and M A in English from the same university in 1963. He joined Pakistan Air Force as a commissioned officer in the Education Branch in 1964. Mr Alamgir completed In Service Training in Teaching at Ground Instructors School (GIS) PAF Kohat, Pakistan 1965 and the British Council Summer School (English Language), Abbotbad Public School, Pakistan in 1966. He also attended the Specialized English Language Training at the Defense Language Institute, (DLI) Lackland AFB, USA in 1987. His diploma ‘The Observer Professional/Specialized, USA qualified him further to supervise English Language Programs to which he has been dedicated for last 25 years at various levels of education and training.

 

Group Capt. Alamgir served as School Principal for 10 years. He taught ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels too.

 

He also attended 14 Senior Staff Course at PATC, Savar, for 12 weeks in 1992 and 1st Command and Staff College Course at DSCSC, Mirpur for six months in 1978. He earned ‘psc’.

 

Group Capt. Alamgir traveled USA, UK, France, Japan, Singapore, Hong-Kong, China, Malaysia, Thiland, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Sultanat of Oman. He has 10 publications to his credit.

 

Mr Alamgir is happily married with two daughters.

This is my great pleasure to share with you the news that relates to strengthening of the IUBAT team through the joining of RN Shamsun Nahar as of August 21, 2004. RN Shamsun Nahar joined as an all time faculty in nursing in the College of Nursing of IUBAT. I would expect all of you to join me in welcoming RN Shamsun Nahar in her new position.

 

RN Nahar has a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNS), from Dhaka University in 1987. Prior to that she has completed diplomas in nursing from College of Nursing, Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre, Karachi, Pakistan in 1970 and 1971. Her specialization includes ward administration, teaching and teaching administration. At the beginning of her career, she obtained senior certificate in nursing and midwifery from the Nursing Institute, Rajshahi in 1966 & 1967.

 

RN Nahar received overseas training in nursing fields. Notable among these are 2 month long course leading to Certificate in Fertilization from John Hopkins University, USA, 1978 and a 6 month long course leading to Certificate in Management Studies from centre for International Health Studies, Queen Margaret College, UK, 1995.

 

During her long professional career in Nursing she held the position as senior staff nurse (ward In-charge 1967-69), Nursing supervisor (1970-72), Nursing Instructor (1973-78) and as Principal (1978-99) in different Nursing Institutes, attached to medical college hospitals in Bangladesh. She also served as Nurse Consultant at CARE, Bangladesh.

 

She likes her profession very much and also believes and hopes that most of the people of Bangladesh like it.

 

She hails from Balonpur, Rajshahi. She is single, dedicated her life for her profession and she has special fascination for nursing. She has joined the IUBAT community with the intention of developing the Nursing Program in all respects.

 

Her long time working experience in nursing, teaching and administration will give us momentum in strengthening of Nursing Programs.

Mr. Amin completed his Bachelor in Computer Science from City College of New York (CUNY), New York, USA. He has completed part of advanced course work for Master in Computer Science degree at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Somerset, New Jersey, USA.

 

Mr Amin has long 14 years experience as Computer Programmer and Analyst in JP Morgan, New York, as General Programmer, IBM Corporation, Raton Florida and as Senior Technical Associate, AT & T Corporation, Somerset, New Jersey, USA. 

 

Mr Amin has special English speaking ability and aptitude for English literature. He is a poet and his poems in English and translation of his Bengali poems have been published in Niederngrassie and Poet’s Canvas online poetry magazines. He has worked as a co-editor of an online poetry magazine the Poet’s Canvas (www.poetscanvas.orgn) for a year, which expanded his horizons about the English language and literature.
