COLLEGE OF NURSING
Nursing
is a health profession and is concerned with promoting the quality of
life of individuals, familities and communities. The science and art of
nursing is concerned with the deliberative and creative use of knowledge
for the betterment of human beings. The American Association of Colleges
of Nursing (AACN) in Essentials of College and University Education for
Professional Nursing reflected on this philosophical orientation of nursing
profession. The nurse is regarded as an integral part of client's environment
and is responsible for assisting the client in recognising and coping with
health care needs throughout the life process. Through application of the
nursing process, the nurse functions as a provider and coordinator of care
and as a member of profession.
The College of Nursing
has the goal of improving health care and overall quality of life in
the country, in the region and in the world. The College strives to achieve
this goal through providing opportunities for selected women and men to
obtain associate and baccalaureate education in the profession of nursing,
stimulate the professional and intellectual growth of individuals in health
sciences and encourage as well as facilitate research on health and illness
of individuals, families and communities.
